UPDATE FROM THE COLONY

My name is Jack Southard (Seen in center of the photo), I’m a third year Pre-Med Psychology major and the current president of the Phi Kappa Psi Ohio State Colony. As I’m sure most readers by now are aware, the Ohio Delta Chapter of Phi Psi is restarting as a colony, which means we’re seeking to regain the charter that was lost 5 years ago. I was brought on by Angelo Giordani, a recruiter from Phi Psi who promised us an opportunity of a lifetime restarting this chapter, and I have no regrets in jumping on it. I was initially brought on with promises of scholarships and leadership opportunities; in the 7 months I’ve been with Phi Psi, it’s become so much more than that. The six other founding fathers have become some of the closest friends I’ve ever had, and after attending District Council at the end of July, those of us who went are more determined than ever to get the chapter back to its full form.

Thus far, we have been unable to do too much, as we are working with limited membership, budget, and time. We have made a lot of strides however, filling in roles with only virtual training and assistance from Angelo as well as reestablishing lost connections, both with other Greek and philanthropic organizations. Preparations have been all but finalized for the upcoming rush season as well, with all of us ready and eager to take on a quality recruitment class post refounding. We have full intent to begin activities as normal this fall with philanthropy events, fundraisers both on campus and for alumni, and possible social events as well. Our goal for the year is to grow to the point where we can be in tuxedos signing our charter the day we all move back into the house on 14th Avenue next fall, with as many alumni, be they from our chapter or not, present for the moment. We look forward to this semester, and hope to see as many of you as possible when we host our first alumni event!
